Not so Extreme Makeover.

The paint job I was working on in the weekend is finished.
It's a small table I bought last summer at a yard sale and all it needed was a bit of TLC.
This is the before, somewhere in between all the clutter.

Wait, here's a close-up:

First it was time to remove the old laquer.

Then it was time to paint.

Resulting in:

Surprise, surprise, a turquoise table.

I didn't make it to picture perfect, cause it's an old shabby little table and if I wanted perfection, I would have bought a new one.  Now all it needs are some small casters, so if any of you know a place where I can buy some beautifull (non-plastic) furniture wheels, please let me know!

On another note:
when I came home from school yesterday evening this cute guy was waiting for me.

It's a package from Juffrouw Sanseveria, because last week I won her giveaway!

It's a birthday card with an inflatable cake in it.
I think it would be a great card for Poppemie's Birthday in two weeks time, so I'll keep you posted on how it worked!

Thanks again Miss Sanseveria!

Almost-Spring-Food.

6 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 3 1/4 pounds potatoes
  • Additional  salt & pepper
  • a few spring onions

For the Dutch version or other great organic veggie recipes, you can go to "Hartelijke Groenten uit Bio de Janeiro".

Tip of the day: Don't go there when you are hungry. It will only make things worse.

Bias tape & Potato salad.

Last week one of my friends gave birth to a sweet baby boy and I wanted to make her a gift.  I opted for some bibs, but they didn't turn out quite right.
With the front is nothing wrong.

Pretty nice actually, even if I do say so myself.

But the back. Oh my.

It just makes me wanna cry.

It's sad really.
I think it's fair to say, bias tape doesn't agree with me.

So to lift the spirits, I treated myself to some yummy pizza bread.

And made to most delicous potatosalad I ever had.
This stuff is soooooo good!
I will share the recipe soon, untill then: have a great Saturday evening!

Breakfast.

Plus two slices of dark brown bread with chocolate spread.
I don't have that much self-discipline.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Made myself a simple pincushion yesterday afternoon. Super easy, super fast and much needed.

In the past I made a few pincushions, like the much loved Theodore

or this bracelet model, but they just weren't that practical.

And practical as I am, it was time for action.
So how did I make it? Here goes:

Mirror, mirror on the wall...

A new second hand shop in town, a new mirror (for the attic) for me!

Just € 7 (10 dollars), so there was some money left for a new grey cardigan from 'De Hema'.
Maybe I should have cleaned the mirror before taking a picture, but then again, I'm to lazy for that.
