Today I finished a new bag: A Big Beach Bag made from 2 Ikea cushion covers. (apparently Ikea-hacking is quit popular nowadays)
It has 2 pockets on the outside and 1 on the inside and a little key chain.
I think it turned out pretty well, so now I can make another one (a better version!) as a gift for my boss.
Now I'm of for a run, have a nice Sunday evening everyone!

Just so you know.

Remember Feye? The beautiful girl got baptised this weekend and I was asked to take photographs of the ceremony & celebrations.
Very nice people, a funny priest, great weather & a sweet little angel in white.
It was a fine day.

Sewing bliss.

Last week I showed you how things went wrong during the make-over of my sewing room. This week things look much better and I can finally show you the finished result.

The sewing corner moved to the other side of the room and we added some shelves.
The biggest change however is the sewing/cutting table. Thanks to my handy dad it went from a normal sized kitchen table to a big & sturdy working table.

But the best part is this:
I can fold the tabletop open and that makes for a work surface that is 1,5 meters x 1,9meters and underneath it has more much needed storage space.
I'm so thrilled with it!
Now I just have to find the time to sew something together...

On Wednesday...

... I got an email from Isabelle requesting some advise on 'The Tatanne Bag'. She started making it and got a bit stuck. On Thursday afternoon I received another mail with some pattern-related questions and Thursday evening these pictures got in the mail:

One Tatanne Bag finished!

But now for the impressing part of the story:
apparently Isabelle just started sewing 3,5 months ago.

Yes folks, you've heard it right, 3,5 months!

I don't know for you, but I think this girl's got talent!

Go with the Flow.

In April Tiene wrote a post about Flow magazine. It looked very interesting & I was immediately intrigued. The best part was, if you filled in a survey (which I did), you got a free issue of the magazine.

{pictures are from Flow Magazine nr 3, 2009}
Today my free issue got in the mail and I'm pleasantly surprised. It looks great!
Not 'how to loose 300 pounds in 5 days' type of articles, but interviews, beautiful photographs and poetry.
A magazine made with love and an eye for detail.
It was about time.

And the award goes to....

...me! (Woohoo!)
Today I received my very first award, from the groovy Miss Modaal.
I'm not really sure what the award stands for; 'Best actrice in a leading role' or maybe 'Best Visual Effects'...
I've got no clue, but I assume it's a positive thing & therefore I'm very grateful!

Apparently you can keep the award just for a short period of time, cause I already have to pass it on to other bloggers.
It was beautiful while it lasted though.

So now I would love to give the Sunshine Award to:

*Kathleen from Verbeelding; just recently discovered her blog, but already a daily read.
*Celestine from Being my own hero; who says girls can't be funny?
*TineMie; a newcomer in the blogworld, but it looks very promising.

And not to forget, The Rules that come with this Award:
1°Post the logo on your blog.
2°Link back to the one you got the award from.
3°Give the award to as many bloggers you want.
4°Make a link to the Award-receivers
5°Let them know about it, by posting a comment on their blog.

Second steps.

The plan was to finish of what we started yesterday, but it turned out a bit differently.
Poppemie came over this afternoon & after watching a movie she got really bored. The only thing she wanted and insisted on doing, was to make something with the sewing machine.
And so we did.
1° Find a pattern.

2° Concentrate & Sew

3° Be proud of your work.

A while ago my little sewing corner looked like this:
Cute, but lacking storage- & workspace.
Therefore I decided to shuffle things around and add some extra shelves.
One days work and eternal sewing bliss as a result!
Or not.

Four (4!) impact drills to our disposal and still no decent hole in the wall: Wrong voltage, vintage tools, a pigheaded concrete wall and blunt drill bits.
Where in the world is Roger when you need him?

Anyway, thank God there was Mr. Nutini with some awesome music to help me through this DIY hell.
